Door County Wedding Insider Photo Shoot — The Flowers

After the Dress, the next task I had to tackle to create “the bride” for the DCVB Wedding Insider photo shoot were the flowers. So I called the guys at Door County Floral to help with a bouquet, and they aimed to impress!

Known as a “Composite” Bouquet, this up-and-coming trend uses a focal flower surrounded by an abundance of petals from that same flower. My gorgeous bouquet was made using Green Dendrobium Orchids, and it falls in line with the Pantone color of the year, emerald green. This same bouquet made its way to the Chicago Bridal show the same weekend of our photo shoot and was well received.

Additional trends in wedding floral seems to be monotone background floral with a pop of color creating a sharp contrast, along with a monotone color scheme with a lot of texture in the types of buds, blooms, and greenery, according to Kyle Allan.

Spring bouquets are looking to have a romantic feel with muted whites and grays paired with soft pastel pinks, greens and yellows while two of the most popular summer bouquet styles are airy, garden style with larger than life focal flowers. Master Designer and co-owner, Jeremy Stichman is also hearing more questions about lace and ribbon in his 2013 and 2014 bridal consultations.

The guys like to keep their Facebook page up-to-date, so be sure to like them to see what they’re working on next!

Otherwise you can find them at 60 South Madison Avenue on Sturgeon Bay’s West side. They have a variety of fresh flowers both stem and arranged, potted plants, artificial arrangements, vases and great trinkets to accessorize.

They’re open Monday through Friday from 8am to 6pm, Sunday from 8am to 5pm, and Sunday by appointment. Or if you’re looking to order right now, you can order online from their website.

As their tagline says, “There’s Always a Reason to Brighten Someone’s Day!” And that certainly was the case for me.

Thank you Jeremy and Kyle! If you’re in the market to surprise a special someone for Valentine’s Day, be sure to place your order at Door County Floral before February 11th — you’ll get a great deal!
